Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities
The following policies , projects and activies are of relevance to the estuary sustainable management and use:

Development of planning policy including the Unitary Development Plan (UDP), related Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) and regional planning initiatives
- Protection and enhancement of the built and natural heritage through the Countryside Strategy and “Wild about Cardiff”, Cardiff’s Local Biodiversity Action Plan, through protection of trees, woodlands and hedgerows, and by securing high standards of design in development;
- Promotion of sustainability through a Local Sustainability Strategy;
- Cardiff Harbour Authority is responsible for the management of the Barrage, the Inland Bay and the River Taff & Ely;
- The Flat Holm Project operates to conserve the important and natural features on Flat Holm and develop the island as a public resource for education in its widest sense.
