Background of Organisation
GWT was established 60 years ago to protect Mayor Marsh on the Gwent Levels. Since then it has grown into the major conservation NGO for the GWENT area. The trust manages over 30 reserves for wildlife conservation and public education and recreation. It is also heavily involved in the planning process and frequently comments on what it perceives to be inappropriate development, plus taking an active role as a consultee in the Unitary Development Plan process for 5 county borough councils.
