Background of Organisation

The group was established in 1999 to preserve the last remaining Severn Ferry that operated from the 1930's until the opening of the first Severn Bridge in 1966. The 'Severn Princess' was found wrecked and abandoned in Connemara, Ireland in March 1999.

Organisational Objectives

To restore the ferry cosmetically and to return her to a permanent mooring at Beachley alongside her original pier or work. To recreate passenger and working conditions aboard.

Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities

Various projects including fun days, river trips, firework displays, talks and displays, presentation evenings, etc. In August 2003 the group plans to open a museum of Ferry-related memorabilia of the old Ferry Inn.
