Background of Organisation
BASC was founded in 1908 as the wildfowlers of Great Britain and Ireland and incorporates the Game Keepers Association of the UK. BASC is the representative body for sporting shooting in the UK, and is the largest shooting and country sports organisation with over 100,00 members. BASC actively promotes good firearms licensing practices, training, standard setting scientific research and practical habitat conservation..
Organisational Objectives
BASC's aim is to ensure the future for responsible sporting shooting in all its diversity as a widely enjoyed and important part of the life and economy of the countryside.Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities
BASC's liase with affiliated wildfowling club on the production of management plans for leases and land purchases. Active interest in the 'Living with the Sea' and 'Champs' projects founded by BASC is 1986, the wildlife habitat trust raises and distributes funds through grants and loans for deserving habitat conservation projects. Long term involvement in the development of the African Eurasian Migratory Water Bird Agreement (AWEA), and involvement with the Convention of Migratory Species (CMS).
