Background of Organisation
Cadw is an exectutive agency of the National Assembly for Wales and is responsible for carrying out the Assembly's policies for the historic environment in Wales.
Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities
Cadw deals with matters relating to Scheduled Ancient Monuments, listed buildings, registered historic landscapes, parks and gardens. It also grant aids work to threatened sites and undertakes surveys to increase our knowledge of particular site types or localities. Cadw has been supporting archaeological research in the Gwent Levels for over 15 years, through the aegis of the Severn Estuary Levels Research Committee. It has proved one of the richest archaeological areas in Wales if not in the UK, and has set standards for multi disciplinary intertidal projects which have received international recognition.
