Environment Agency
The Environment Agency is the Governments lead advisor on environmental issues in England and Wales. Its primary aim is to protect and enhance the environment and make a contribution towards achieving sustainable development through the integrated management of air, land and water. The Agency's work includes tackling flooding and pollution incidents, managing water resources, reducing industry's impacts on the environment, cleaning up rivers, coastal waters and contaminated land, and improiving wildlife habitats.
It is split into 8 regions, 3 of which border the Severn Estuary – Midlands, Wales and South West England, with regional offices at Solihul, Cardiff and Exeter respectively.
Each Agency region is in turn divided into areas (generally based on river catchment boundaries) and each of these has an Area Office. These offices and relevant stretches of coastline are listed below:
