Background of Organisation
The Borough of Tewkesbury forms the Northern Boundary of both Gloucestershire and the South West Region.Covering an area of 163 square miles, it is unique in having borders with all five of the other Gloucestershire Districts as well as Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils to its north. The 2000 mid year estimates gave the Borough a population of 76,248, comprising of 33,865 properties. Organisational Objectives
There are four Policy Committees in the Borough Council Structure. The Community and Cultural, Economy and the Environment Committees make decisions which are within policy and budget. The Strategy and Resources Committee deals with cross cutting and corporate issues, with the views of the other three Policy Committees being taken into account.The main areas of responsibility of each Policy Committee are listed below:

The Council is committed to working in partnership with the community in all areas to extend the partnership into the Local Agenda 21 process and has also developed an Environmental Strategy.
