Background of Organisation
The Partnership’s first meeting was held on 20 March 2002 in Swansea. Launched with the active involvement and support of the Welsh Assembly Government, the Partnership is building upon the work of the former Wales Coastal Forum.
The Partnership comprises representatives of 28 organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors. To allow all interests in Wales to have their say in the Partnership’s work, a wider interested parties list has been created. Organisational Objectives
The Partnership role is to advice the Welsh Assembly Government on sustainable development issues affecting the coast and seas of Wales as well as to facilitate the exchange of information and dissemination of good practice.
Relevant Policies, Projects & Activities
More specifically, the partnership is helping with the implementation of the EU Recommendation on integrated coastal zone planning and management in Wales. It also endeavours to inform policy development in Wales on the sustainable development and management of the Welsh coastal areas and maritime waters as well as to provide better co-ordination of national and local policies for Welsh coastal areas and maritime waters and to complement existing consultation mechanisms. In its course of action the Partnership facilitated the integrated management and use of the Welsh coastal areas and maritime waters through encouraging debate and building partnerships which support the exchange and dissemination of information and good practice.
The Partnership meets on a quarterly basis. The meetings are not open to the public, however, information on every meeting can be obtained from the Project Officer and on this Webpage.
